If you're a fan of fantasy and tales where good triumphs over evil, you'll love Journey of the Seeds, a captivating new novel series by local author Carol Baauw

The first installment in the graphic novel series, Origins, serves as the foundation for the saga. It delves deep into the characters’ histories and current roles—whether aligned with the noble King and his Palace of Light or under the sway of the Dark Lord Nero and his manipulative army.

Origins also showcases the vast and varied landscapes that shape the realm of the Seeds. Presented in a striking graphic novel format, Origins – The Anthology features stunning illustrations by David ‘Snowy’ Shooter.

A proud local, Carol grew up in Blacktown, attended Doonside High, and left school in Year 8. Her life’s path since then has been inspiring—earning a degree in social work and a diploma in adult education.

Today, Carol is the owner of Eden’s Café in Penrith and continues to pursue her passion for storytelling through writing and creative collaboration.

Journey of the Seeds was inspired by Carol’s work in counseling, where she supported creatively inclined individuals on their paths to self-discovery.

“As we journey through pain, we must look to the light to overcome the demons we face each day,” says Carol.

From these experiences, a powerful story began to form in her imagination. With a strong interest in history and a love for medieval legend—fueled in part by her participation in IronFest—Carol crafted a rich, immersive fantasy world.

In creative sessions with a group she fondly calls “the fellowship,” Carol nurtured the seeds of her story until the series came to life.

The saga began with Toowyn in 2009, followed by The Mark of the Eagle in 2012, and Lagharn in 2014. Fans eagerly await the next thrilling installment.
